CHICAGO, IL — The Black Rhino Foundation, Inc. (BRF), a non–profit focusing on the preservation of African wildlife, specifically the highly endangered black rhino, is pleased to announce a gift in the amount of $10,000 from Peabody’s Coffee (San Diego, CA) endorsing our work in rhino conservation.
Peabody's Coffee, distributors of Black Rhino Coffee, an organically grown coffee, approached the BRF recently after learning of the Black Rhino Cookie. In keeping with their belief in the importance of environmental awareness, Peabody's saw a strong fit between the two groups when it comes to conservation."
After water, coffee is the most popular beverage in the world, enjoyed by a majority of people on every continent. It is also the most serious agricultural polluter in the world, with most coffee grown using millions of gallons of chemical pesticides and herbicides and millions of tons of fungicides and fertilizers. Black Rhino Coffee uses none. A big taste in coffee and a big commitment to the environment and to social responsibility. Black Rhino Coffee uses only 100% Certified Organic Beans and hand-roasts them in small batches so you are assured the rich rewards of a superlative beverage, while also helping to sustain Planet Earth." The BRF wishes to thank Peabody's for its generous gift.
At present, the black rhino is on the brink of extinction. Over 90% of the species have been ruthlessly poached in the last 25 years. This is the fastest decline of any large mammal in recorded history. It is predicted that by the turn of the century the species will be extinct in the wild. The BRF is dedicated to promoting and encouraging the preservation of the black rhino in the wild.
